About Us


The Bangalore Management Association (BMA) is a Pioneer in the management movement of India. Established in 10 October 1953, and is affiliated to All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi. It was launched as a professional body to study and promote the principles of management in more scientific way. As an independent, nonprofit organization, BMA provides a wide range of services aimed at enhancing managerial effectiveness. These include promotion and development of sound management practices suiting Indian conditions and to stimulate management thinking leading to excellence. The objectives of BMA as a center of creative and nurturing activities are archived through organizing various seminars, workshops, conferences, training programmes, lecturers, discussions, meetings and research projects.

BMA is in the forefront among all Management Associations and is the oldest Management Association in the country. BMA is recognized as one of the best Management Associations in the country consistently. It continued bringing latest management thoughts through its Annual Conventions, Workshops, Seminars, Conclaves, Summits, and Training Programmes be inviting reputed management Experts & Business icons. Eminent personalities like Peter Drucker, Mother Theresa, Union Finance Minister Sri P. Chidambaram, Sri Narayana Murthy, Founder Infosys, Former Prime Minster Sri HD Deve Gowda, Former Chief minister of Karnataka Sri N. Dharam Singh, His Excellency Dr. HR Bharadwaj, Governor of Karnataka among many dignitaries who have participated in BMA's events on various occasions. BMA has also played its role by recognizing and honouring the leaders who have made significant contributions to the Society such as Dr. Raja Ramanna, Smt, Sudha Murthy, Dr. Devi Shetty, Sri Azim Hasim Premji, Sri NR Narayana Murthy, Dr. CN Manunath, Dr. Vivek Jawali, Dr. Shyamoala G Bhave, Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Sri. A.S. Kiran Kumar, Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Sri. Aloysius P. Fernandez, Sri Veerandra Heggade and many other dignitaries.

Apart from this BMA builds its own brand by regularly organizing innovative management programmes to meet the aspirations of the managerial fraternity since six decades in Bangalore- the silicon valley and the emerging corporate capital of India. The BMA is in the process of construction of the Management Development Center and its ground floor has already been completed.

Objectives

  • To promote and develop sound management principles as applied to the Indian environment.
  • To enrol students under the students chapter and provide them the knowledge about the prevailing management practices in order to familiarise them with the corporate world.
  • To initiate and stimulate management thinking leading to excellence in management practices. This is achieved primarily through organizing focused training programs/ lectures, discussion meetings where experiences are shared, sponsoring specific research projects, forming study-groups and arranging goal directed conferences.
  • To establish a fruitful liaison for its members with the various management institutions, both in India and abroad.
  • To play a pivotal role in continuing improvements in Management learning by associating as an important member among leading management learning institutions.
  • To publish the monthly management journal “Manage” with stimulating articles on current management thoughts where experiences are shared. It also aims to provide news of the latest developments in the managerial excellence.

Like any democratic and autonomous institution, we are governed by our constitution. We have an electoral system, which provides for a President assisted by a Managing committee, all elected from our membership.

Since members so elected render voluntary service, to make for thoroughly professional body we have a full fledged office with permanent staff, which executes the decisions of the committee.

As our activities have grown, the work of the Managing Committee has further subdivided by the formation of several sub committees such as:

BMA celebrates “Management Week” every year and the week concludes with an annual get-together. BMA also instituted several awards to recognize individuals and corporations distinguishing themselves in several areas of management.

The present membership of BMA is a strong 400 institutional members and around 2000 individual members. They represent a select band of people and companies/organisations from all disciplines.
